This week, a challenge that I had to overcome would be when I had to give an elevator pitch on the spot. Having to confine all my research and an introduction about myself all under 60 seconds was the hardest part. However, I think I overcame this struggle by jotting down my current research status as well as my overall topic.
Ways that I was successful this week was that I was able to find more sources as well as when I gave my elevator pitch, I maintained professional and held eye contact. I was able to showcase what I also needed from my mentor that I was giving the pitch to.
Things that I need to work on would be more confident in my research that I could talk about it longer. As well as deepening my analysis of my research so that I can give a better understanding to my mentor.
Research topics that I need to deepen my knowledge would be on beta cells and reasons for self attacks on the autoimmune system. This would allow me to understand how and why Diabetes actually starts and if it is hereditary or one can get Type 1 by just the malfunction of their cells. If so, what causes the malfunction?
