This week I started brainstorming what I would like to do for my original work. I came down to the conclusion that I wanted to create a model to place in hospitals like Cook Children's hospital in their endocrine department. My original work will be a model of a pancreas, neurons and a limb. The purpose of the model is to show how Type one diabetic patients cannot turn food into energy and how that will turn their blood acidic. This will then show how the neurons will start lighting up to show their functionality which would then lead to the limb to change color as a result of nerve damage in that limb.

However, planning the functionality of the model would be the hardest part of the journey into making the model. I think I can overcome this challenge by doing extra research on how to make the lights and water and the color changing paint to all work so that doctors can have a model or diagram of how the body responds to hyperglycemia when explaining it to newer Type One Diabetic patients. I will also further my knowledge on ketoacidosis this week so that I can apply it to my original work.
