Bringing It To Life

This week's focus was on bringing my original work to life! My original work consists of making a model of a pancreas, neurons, and a limb to show how high blood sugars affects the brain and body.

The most challenging part about my original work is trying to make it functional and clean so that I could place it in endocrine departments. Especially having to make the lights and water to work together to present a visual creation of the neurons acting to an acidic bloodstream.

To get over this problem, I started looking into videos and doing my own research in how I can better the diagram that I created first, to becoming a functional model. This step was very time consuming as I couldn't really understand what I needed to make the model functional. However, with time, I was able to perfect my diagram and I have a plan to make my model functional.

This week, I will be working on actually constructing the model with clay and other materials to make the pancreas, leg, and the shape of neurons. I will also be making a bowl for the acidic blood, (yellow dyed water). This way, younger kids who just got diagnosed or other patients that have trouble understanding diabetic neuropathy and ketoacidosis can get a visual display in what would happen.
